Happy New Year!

I know it's been a long time since I posted.  2011 brought good and bad, lots of just slogging along.  2012 seems to be starting well for me.  Yesterday I went to MUF and drummed, even though I hadn't gotten much sleep and wanted to go back to bed.  However, I had PROMISED, and that got me there.  Turns out the service was all about HOPE, which was exactly what I needed to hear.

Then I went to visit some friends who live nearby and had invited us to come over NYE (but we always have a Tribe party, so it didn't work out).

Today I found 3 people on Google and then Facebook.  Two of them I have only met a few times but one of them I have known for years, and I love dearly.  So -- I have had new friends and old friends...  That helps me to deal with the Depression.  This year is the year I find out if the depression is caused by the chronic pain, what the chronic pain is caused by, and what can I do about it.  I can't walk for more than 10 minutes without my legs going wonky, and I have sporadic pain other places as well.  I am tired of people throwing meds at things without addressing the underlying cause (or what I think the underlying cause is) -- the fact that I bloody well hurt 24/7 and no one seems to be listening to me when I say so!

OK, enough grumping!

I wish all of you the best of the best for the New Year!  Love and Bright Blessings -- Cedar

Update

My dear friend Gaffer is on his way to Cleveland by now -- I dropped him at the train early this afternoon.  We had not seen each other for AT LEAST six years (and it might be more, we have been unable to place the last Pennsic we both attended).  It was a joy to see him, and to hear him play and sing.  He is a very special person.  We realized that we have known each other for 22 years.  This means I have known him for ONE YEAR LONGER than I've known my husband!  Catching up was wonderful, my neighbors and random people walking in my neighborhood enjoyed his outdoor harp playing...

I'm sorry to see him go, but it was a joy to see him and he is already talking about "the next time", provided the homeward leg of the journey goes as well as the outward leg.

In other news -- I have a Sleep Study scheduled for tomorrow night.  I found out from my new Pulmunologist that my Gastric Bypass surgeon had no basis for telling me that I no longer had sleep apnea after my surgery, because he did not give me a second sleep study to confirm that.  This is a cause of great concern, since we suspect that my older brother died because he fell asleep in front of the TV without his CPAP machine on.  I never was given a CPAP but did use oxygen at night pre-op.  I am very angry that my surgeon told me something that he had no authority to tell me.  It is getting fixed, but I feel like I've been playing Russian Roulette every night for almost 8 years, thinking I did not have a condition that I may still have.

Good Morning, LJ

Hey there!  I am actually feeling healthy today -- nice change of pace from last week when I had a cold and laryngitis that started to go away twice and then resurfaced.  However, I was able to sing yesterday, so that's all good!

Saturday, I drove up to Albany, NY to listen to a friend of mine, Gaffer, play at a coffee house.  I had never heard him play at a public venue before, so that was cool.  I had not seen him for about 6 years, as he lives in Colorado.  After he played, I spirited him off to NJ!  We got caught up a little on the drive back, and on Saturday evening.  Yesterday, he came with me to church, because he wanted to hear me sing.  Then he decided to go outside (the weather was GLORIOUS) and play harp.  He then became a kid magnet, as it was just after RE classes let out.  From all reports (I was inside, singing with the choir), he had fun, the kids had fun, the parents had fun -- bright blessings all around.

Although we did not find a place for Gaffer to meet up with some of his OTHER NJ friends, he doesn't leave NJ until Wednesday, so we are hoping to arrange that.  He played for Peggy and I a little bit yesterday afternoon, outside on the lawn... it was terrific.

I am up because I had to take my husband to the train, and I am trying to build the muscle of staying up and getting work done when I get home instead of going back to sleep.

Have a wonderful day, my friends.  Here is Gaffer playing outside MUF (Morristown Unitarian Fellowship) yesterday -- compliments of Avianca.

Gratitude list

If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.
